Annie Bacon, age 84, of Brooklyn, Iowa, died Saturday, January 9, 2016, at the Brooklyn Community Estate. Funeral service: 10:30 a.m., Thursday, January 14, 2016, at Grace United Methodist Church, with Rev. Brent de Silva officiating. Burial will be at the Brooklyn Memorial Cemetery, Brooklyn, Iowa. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn, Iowa. A memorial fund has been established.
Annie is survived by two sons, Allen Bacon of West Virginia and Gary (Marilyn) Bacon of Brooklyn; two daughters, Nancy (Kevin Mendell) Tauber of Boone and Julie (Robert) Bartachek, Brooklyn; eleven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; three great, great grandchildren; three brothers, Jim Peak of West Branch, Bill (Sharon) Peak of Iowa City and John “Jack” Peak of Montezuma; a sister, Jean Richman of Fort Wayne, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Wayne in 1983, a son Dale, a daughter-in-law Nancy, a sister-in-law Florence and brother-in-law Eldon.
Annie Peak was born July 14, 1931, in South Rockwood, Michigan, the daughter of James and Oatley Williams Peak. She received her education in the Brooklyn Schools. She married Edward Wayne Bacon January 20, 1949 at Grace United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker and later served at the Brooklyn Elementary School. Annie was a member of South Side Circle and Grace United Methodist Church. She volunteered for many local organizations and enjoyed coffee time with friends. Go Hawks!
