Berger on June 15, 1935 at the Methodist Parsonage in Marengo. The couple made their home in South Amana where she worked at the South Amana Sandwich Shop for many years. Otto passed away on December 28 1965. Nadine continued to live in South Amana for 46 years until she moved to Colonial Manor of Amana at the age of 96.
She is survived by nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and nine siblings, Gertie Schuhart, Mamie Roderick, Claire Wilder, Marie Danskin, Glenn, Lyle, and Mel Huff, Ada Hunzelman and Ida Engel.
Nadine’s family would like to thank Nadine’s “other family”, the staff of Colonial Manor of Amana, for the excellent and compassionate care they gave her over the last six years; Iowa City Hospice for their excellent care, guidance and assistance following her stroke; and Nadine’s South Amana friends who looked out for her all her years at home, especially her later years. She will be missed, but as Nadine would have said it, “We had a good time!”
