Patricia Sue Carney, age 76 of Marengo, Iowa, died Monday, August 18, 2014 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Funeral Mass: 10:00 A.M. Saturday, August 23, 2014 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Marengo with Fr. Joseph Roost officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Marengo. Visitation: 4 to 7 P.M. Friday, August 22, 2014 at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo where a Rosary will be recited at 7:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
Patricia is survived by her husband of 56 years, Marvin; three sons, Randy (Angie) of Marengo, Jim (Cheryl) of Walford, and Mike (Sharon) of Marengo; six grandchildren, Lyndsey of Coralville, Holly of Marengo, Lucas of Iowa City, Rachel of Cedar Falls, Makayla of Cedar Falls and Austin of Marengo; and a brother Keith (Bertha) Wilson of Windsor Heights, IA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her oldest son Daniel in infancy, and two grandchildren, Ashlyn and Patrick in infancy.
Patricia Sue Wilson was born April 26, 1938 in Marengo, Iowa, the daughter of Noel Wilson and Rachel Slaymaker Wilson. She graduated from Marengo High School with the class of 1956. Following graduation, Pat worked for Merchants National Bank in Cedar Rapids. She and Marvin Carney were united in marriage on November 30, 1957 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Marengo. The couple made their home in Marengo where they raised a family, and Pat did daycare in her home. She enjoyed playing Bunco, ceramics class, going to casinos, and watching QVC. Because she had three boys, Pat served as a den mother for several years. She loved her family and attended most activities and events of her children and grandchildren through the years. Pat was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society.
