Jane B. Dietrich, age 92 of Amana, Iowa, died Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at Colonial Manor of Amana, following a brief illness. Graveside Service: 10:00 A.M. Saturday, December 13, 2014, Amana Cemetery, Amana, Iowa with Elders Peter Hoehnle and Harold Pitz officiating. There will be a lunch following the service at the Amana Church Fellowship Hall, Amana, Iowa. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Essence of Life Hospice. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is assisting with arrangements.
Jane is survived by her children, Wayne (Julie) Dietrich of Forsyth, MO, Carolyn Chambers, Phoenix, AZ, Angela (Richard) Renaud, Tonopah, AZ and Sonia (Richard) Harms, Dallas, TX; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a sister Frieda Kofron.
Jane Barbara Dietrich was born March 17, 1922 in Homestead, Iowa, the daughter of John and Caroline Fels Dietrich. She graduated from the Amana Community High School in 1939 and began working for various Amana businesses, eventually retiring from her favorite, the Amana Furniture Shop. Jane and George Dietrich were married on December 20, 1945, when he returned from WWII. The couple settled in Amana where she remained until her move to Lakeview Village in 2000. George passed away, July 4, 1976.
Jane enjoyed traveling in her retirement, having visited Germany, England, and Ireland, as well as visits to Chicago, New York City, Branson, MO, and other places within the United States. Her greatest pleasure came from spending time with her children and close friends. She also loved playing Bridge.
Jane will be remembered for her loving spirit, independence, and her devotion to her children.
The family would like to thank Dr. Ben Miller, nurses and staff at the Marengo Memorial Hospital and Essence of Life Hospice for their excellent care, and a special Thank You to Colonial Manor for the compassionate care they provided for our mother.
