Stephen Rex Heishman was born September 5, 1954 in Fort Smith, AR to Virgil Rex and Nancy Patten Heishman. In 1956, his sister Susan Jane was born and the family made their home in Brooklyn. Stephen’s parents later divorced. His father remarried Mary Jane Goodrich-Butler and sisters Lori Lynn and Brenda Jo joined the family. In 1963 Kristi Lee was born. Stephen graduated from BGM High School in 1972. He went to work in Illinois, returning a few years later. He was employed with Manatt’s INC for 30 + years, becoming superintendent of the seal coating crew. Steve had made his home at Holiday Lake for 20 years, and had recently purchased a home in Mercedes, TX, so he could golf year round.
Steve loved and was loved by so many people. When he made a friend, he was your friend forever. He loved the Denver Broncos, Fantasy Football, his Sunday NFL package, the Iowa Hawkeyes, loud music and bongo drums. He enjoyed cruising around the lake on his golf cart and he loved playing golf. He was a member of Duck’s Unlimited and Pheasants Forever. Steve made daily trips to the farm this past spring to check on the planting and he tried to make it to the Tap to see his friends, especially Jamie Manatt, a daughter he never had!
