Virginia May Hepker, age 100, of North English, formerly of Marengo, passed away Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at the English Valley Care Center. Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, with Rev. Eddie Thomas officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, April 7, 2018 from 9:30 a.m., until service time, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. Burial will be in the Dunkard Cemetery, Midway, Iowa. Memorials may be contributed to the Church of the Nazarene World Evangelism Funds.
Virginia is survived by four daughters LaVonne Hinkle of California, Ellen (David) Ewing of North Carolina, Jean Hepker of Mt. Pleasant and Janice (Jim) Hoylman of Webster; a daughter-in-law Jan Hepker; ten grandchildren Bryce, Tadd, Kara, Brenda, Meridith, Jeremiah, Melinda, Tonya, Alisa and Serena; 24 great-grandchildren; and 10 great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Warren in 2004, a daughter Carol Jean in infancy, a son Kenneth and granddaughter Theresa.
Virginia Lee was born April 1, 1918, in Mt. Vernon, the daughter of William Lee and Amiee Haak Lee. She attended several schools in New Mexico, Denver, Colorado and graduated from the Cedar Rapids Schools. She married Warren Charles Hepker on December 28, 1938 at the Free Methodist Church in Toddville. They moved to Marengo in 1961 where the family owned and operated Gambles Hardware Store. She was a housewife and a mother, and later did bookwork for the ambulance and Hearse company. Virginia was very active in the Church of the Nazarene, in Marengo. She served on the church board and taught Sunday School. She received a distinguished service award from the church. Virginia enjoyed sewing, reading and was a Cubs fan.
