Joan Carol Homire, age 81 of Marengo, Iowa, died Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at her home. Graveside Memorial Service: 2:00 P.M. Friday, April 8, 2016, Anderson Cemetery, Swisher, Iowa with Chad Kisner officiating. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be contributed to Essence of Life Hospice of Amana. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is assisting the family with arrangements.
Joan is survived by her children, Ronald (Nikki) Homire of Marengo, Pamela (Terry) Kisner of Camanche, and Carol (John) Staudacher of Liberty, MO; 8 grandchildren, Chad (Sarah) Kisner, Windy Lamp, and Nathan Kisner, all of Clinton, Luke Staudacher of Blue Springs, MO, Nick Staudacher of Liberty, MO, Gage Kensler of Marengo, Josh Kensler of Wausau, WI, and Hunter Homire of Marengo; four great-grandchildren, Teri Lamp, Tiffany Lamp, Olivia Kisner and Madeline Kisner all of Clinton. Also surviving is her sister Jane Musel (Lyle) of Oregon.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Hillis Homire in 1998, a brother Donald Buch, and a sister Lorraine Lorenz.
Joan Carol Buch was born November 7, 1934 in Keystone, Iowa, the daughter of Ewald Buch and Leila Henningsen Buch. She graduated from Keystone High School in 1952 and married Hillis “Hap” Homire on February 22, 1953 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Keystone. Joan was employed with Farmstead for 19 years, and then worked at J.C. Penney until her retirement.
Joan was a lifelong member of the Missouri Lutheran Church, and a past member of the Swisher Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling and playing cards.
