Carol J. Kensler, age 87, died Friday, January 15, 2010, at Rose Haven Nursing Home in Marengo. Funeral Services: 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at St. Johns’ Lutheran Church, Marengo with Rev. Douglas Morton officiating. Visitation: 4 to 7 P.M. Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo.  Burial: Koszta Cemetery, rural Marengo.   A memorial fund has been established.

She is survived by two sons: Mark (Harriet) of Marengo and Kirk (Treva) of San Diego, CA; two daughters: Susan Cronbaugh (Charles) of Marengo and Tami Munson (Richard) of Conroy; four grandchildren: Curtis Cronbaugh, Mark Allen Kensler, Stephanie Munson, and Alex Munson; six great-grandchildren: Annie Rabe, Chad Cronbaugh, Gage Kensler, Josh Kensler, Alexis Rohrer, and Alyssa Rohrer; and two great-great-grandchildren: Aiden and Alivia Rabe. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gaylen, her great-grandson Caleb Cronbaugh, two sisters: Irene Houck and Marilyn Landon; three half sisters: Lois Van Renterghem, Evelyn Sherwood, and Ruth Ostrom; and two half brothers: Scott Torrance and Claire Latcham.

Carol Jean Torrance was born June 23, 1922 in Hartwick, IA, the daughter of Walter and Ada Benton Torrance.  She graduated from Grinnell High School in 1940 and married Gaylen Floyd Kensler on July 11, 1943 in Hannibal, MO.  Carol worked for Shaull’s Variety, the Style Shop, and JJ’s Clothing in Marengo.  She also worked for the Iowa County Care Facility for 20 years.  She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Marengo.  Carol enjoyed caring for her family and home.  She was deeply loved by her family and will be missed.
