Frieda S. Kofron, age 95 of Amana, formerly of Homestead, died Monday, October 20, 2014 at Colonial Manor of Amana, following a brief illness. A Graveside Service will be held at 3:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at the Homestead Cemetery, Homestead, Iowa. Harold Pitz, Elder of the Amana Church will officiate. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be contributed to Essence of Life Hospice, Amana. Condolences may be sent to her sister Jane Dietrich, in care of Colonial Manor of Amana.
Frieda is survived by her sister Jane Dietrich of Amana, nieces and nephews, Sonia Harms of Dallas, TX, Carolyn Chambers of Phoenix, AZ, Angela Renaud of Phoenix, AZ, and Wayne Dietrich of Forsyth, MO. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Richard Kofron in 1994.
Frieda S. Dietrich was born June 19, 1919 in Homestead, Iowa, the daughter of John Dietrich Jr. and Caroline Fels Dietrich. She graduated from Amana High School in 1937 and married Richard L. Kofron on November 14, 1941 in Lancaster, Missouri. The couple lived in Aurora, IL for a time. They returned to Iowa and built a home in Homestead. Frieda worked at the I-80 Amana Store for a number of years. She will be remembered for her positive outlook, friendly smile, and numerous acts of kindness.
