Diane Marie Kriegel, age 64 of Montezuma, died Sunday, December 25, 2016 at her home. Funeral Mass: 10:30 A.M. Friday, December 30, 2016, St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Brooklyn with Fr. Corey Close officiating. Burial: Calvary Cemetery, Brooklyn. Visitation: 4 to 7 P.M. Thursday, December 29, 2016, Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn with a Scripture Service at 7 P.M. A memorial fund has been established.
Diane is survived by her husband, Raphael; her children, Lisa Kriegel (Marcos) of Montezuma, Justin (Jennifer) Kriegel of Grinnell, Heidi Campbell (Russ) of Grinnell, Jenny Ogan (Chris) of Montezuma, Crissy Kriegel of Montezuma and Erik (Nikki) Kriegel of Montezuma; ten grandchildren, Alexis (Seth), Alaina, Jarrod, Haley, Ryan, Blaine, Brady, Bailee, Kaitlyn and Mackinze; and a great-granddaughter, Iris. Also surviving are her mother Elsie Blomme of Belle Plaine, and her siblings, Danny (Karen) Blomme of Lakeland FL, David (Diane) Blomme of Tama, and Deb (John) VanRoekel of Montezuma.
She was preceded in death by her father Richard Blomme, father-in-law and mother-in-law, William and Catherine Kriegel.
Diane Marie Blomme was born November 13, 1952 in Belle Plaine, Iowa, the daughter of Richard Charles and Elsie Faye Hilligas Blomme. She graduated from Belle Plaine High School with the Class of 1970, and married Raphael John Kriegel on November 4, 1972 at St. Joseph’s Church in Chelsea. She worked for Montezuma Manufacturing for 34 years, retiring in December 2014.
Diane was a loving, wife, mother, and grandmother who cherished her family. She loved to cook, do laundry, and mow the yard. She never missed a chance to brag about her grandchildren. She enjoyed playing cards, camping, reading, watching the Hawkeyes and the Chicago Cubs. She really did love her job. Diane also was a committee member for the Alzheimer’s Association, and a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.
