Betty C. Osborne, age 77 of Brooklyn, died Sunday, March 31, 2013 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, Des Moines, Iowa. Funeral Services: 10:30 A.M. Thursday, April 4, 2013, Grace United Methodist Church, Brooklyn with Rev. John Dodds officiating. Burial: Brooklyn Memorial Cemetery. Visitation: 4 to 7 P.M. Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn. A memorial fund has been established.
Betty is survived by her husband Richard; a son Terry (Syndi) of Brooklyn, a daughter Barbara Hall (Cory) of Grinnell; two grandchildren, Brett Hall of Grinnell and Nathan Hall of Ankeny; and two brothers, Gene Morgan of Brooklyn and Mervin Morgan of Grinnell. She was preceded in death by her parents, and two sisters-in-law Joyce Morgan and Jackie Morgan.
Betty Colleen Morgan was born September 19, 1935 in Brooklyn, Iowa, the daughter of Robert Menzo Morgan and Virginia Elizabeth Lytle Morgan. She received her education in the Poweshiek County schools and graduated from Brooklyn High School in 1953. Betty and Richard Osborne were united in marriage on April 10, 1955 at Grace United Methodist Church, Brooklyn. Betty worked as a teller for the Poweshiek County Savings Bank for 17 years. She served as secretary for the BGM School Board from January 1977 until her retirement in February of 1998. She was a member of the Poweshiek County Historical and Genealogical Society, the Grace United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, and 4-H.
Betty enjoyed traveling to all 50 states, crocheting, gardening, quilting, Sudoku, collecting bells, reading, playing cards and polka music. She loved attending family members’ events and spending time at the lake with her family.
