Bruce R. Patten, age 65 of Brooklyn, Iowa, died Saturday, August 9, 2014 at his home. Funeral Service: 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 13, 2014, Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn. Burial will be in the Brooklyn Memorial Cemetery with military honors. Visitation: 10-11 A.M. Wednesday, August 13th, prior to the service. A memorial fund has been established.

Bruce is survived by his wife Jocelyn; two sons from a previous marriage, Scott Patten of Boone, and Dustin Patten of Grinnell; a son Chad of Brooklyn; his mother, Lois Patten of Brooklyn; a brother, Gene of Brooklyn; and two sisters, Ellen Visser and husband Terry of Iowa Falls, and Faye Klenk and husband Darwin of Malcom. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Patten, and a daughter Shari in infancy.

Bruce Richard Patten was born June 15, 1949 in Grinnell, Iowa, the son of Jack and Lois Johnson Patten.  He graduated from BGM High School with the Class of 1968. Bruce served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era.  Following his return, Bruce farmed for many years.  He also was a custodian at Kwik Star for 17 years. Bruce and Jocelyn Ainas were united in marriage on October 1, 2010 at Grace United Methodist Church in Brooklyn. 

Bruce enjoyed watching movies and collecting glassware.  He loved his family and cherished the time he spent with them..
