Eldon C. Pretz, age 87 of Cedar Rapids, died Monday evening, July 13, 2015 at his home following a sudden illness. Funeral Service: 10:00 A.M. Saturday, July 18, 2015, Trinity Lutheran Church, Conroy, Iowa with Rev. Gary Sears officiating. Burial will be in the Marengo Cemetery. Visitation: 4 to 7 P.M. Friday, July 17, 2015 at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. A memorial fund has been established.
Eldon is survived by his wife Lyn; a son Larry of Boone; a daughter Karen King of Ely; two grandchildren, Jacob Pretz of Boone, and Shana Haag of Milton, GA; two great-grandchildren, Max and Kingston Haag; two step-daughters, Trisha Thurston and Melody Ewald; and a step-granddaughter, Harper Thurston. A sister Marlene Miller of Marengo also survives. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Loren, and two sisters, Darlene Hacker and Betty Morsted.
Eldon Clarence Pretz was born May 17, 1928 in rural Marengo, Iowa the son of Edwin and Martha Teggatz Pretz. He graduated from Marengo High School. Eldon was the owner and operator of Eldon Pretz Pipe Organ Service for over 50 years. He also worked at the Wilson Packing Company for 32 years. Eldon married Arlene D. Bernards on September 3, 1949. The couple later divorced. He and Lyn Veloso were married on October 5, 1999 in Crookston, Nebraska.
Eldon was a pilot and enjoyed flying in his free time. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Conroy.
