Dorothy “Dot” Kathryn Provin, age 63 of Grinnell, formerly of Brooklyn, died Sunday, April 19, 2015 at Grinnell Regional Medical Center. Funeral services: Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn, with Rev. John Reynolds, Jr. officiating. Visitation: Tuesday, April 21, 2015, 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Brooklyn Memorial Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established.
Dorothy is survived by her children; Scott (Wendi) Provin of Roosevelt, UT, Amy (Shane) Brown of Grinnell, and twins Alishia (Brandon) Tuttle of Malcom and Tony (Bree Johnson) Provin of Cedar Rapids; a brother Ben (Patty) Mowrey of Fort Collins, CO; a sister Char Seiler of San Antonio, TX; six grandchildren; Asia, Madison, Marshall, Carter, Camden and Kalor; and a sister like friend Connie Coleman of Malcom. She was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson Mason, and two brothers, Jim and Dick.
Dorothy Kathryn was born October 17, 1951 in Grinnell, Iowa, the daughter of Donald and Margaret “Roberta” Harris Mowrey. She received her education in the Brooklyn Schools. She was a cook at Dickies Restaurant in Malcom and later cleaned several homes until her retirement.
