Duane W. Stohlmann, age 69, of Williamsburg, died suddenly on Saturday, November 1, 2014. Funeral Services: 10:30 A.M. Friday, November 7, 2014, St. Paul Lutheran Church, Williamsburg, with Rev. Gary Sears officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation: 4 to 7 P.M. Thursday, November 6, 2014, at St. Paul Lutheran Fellowship Hall, Williamsburg. Memorials may be contributed to St. Paul Lutheran Church. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Duane is survived by his wife Jane; two sons, Douglas and wife Mary of San Antonio, TX, and Joel and wife Jessica of Marengo; six grandchildren, Christopher, Michael, Matthew and Jessica, and Elizabeth and Evan; and a sister Marna Durr and husband Steve of Williamsburg. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a son Paul in infancy.
Duane Waldo Stohlmann was born February 11, 1945 in Williamsburg, Iowa, the son of Waldo and Alma Schmidt Stohlmann. His early education was received at the Hilton School in Conroy, and he graduated from Williamsburg High School with the Class of 1963. Duane served with the Iowa National Guard for a time. He and Jane Clark were united in marriage on May 7, 1967 in Casey, Iowa. The couple farmed in the Williamsburg area for many years. Duane also worked with the Iowa Department of Transportation and the Iowa County Road Department. He was a very active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church during his lifetime. Being concerned with the Iowa prairieland, Duane was a member of the Integrated Roadside Vegetative Management organization.
