William Edward Wells, age 90 of Brooklyn, passed away Friday, May 11, 2018 at the Brooklyn Community Estate.  Private graveside services will be held at a later date at the Brooklyn Memorial Cemetery.  Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn is assisting the family with arrangements.

William is survived by his wife Betty; a daughter Susan Gleason (Dan) of Oskaloosa, a granddaughter Missy Armstrong (David Beck) of Grinnell, and three great-grandchildren, Naveah, Ronan and Aspen. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister Edna Marie.

William Edward Wells was born March 4, 1928, in Ewart, Iowa, the son of Earl Edward Wells and Mary Ann Donnan Wells.  He graduated from Montezuma High School in 1945.  William married Betty Gritsch on August 20, 1950, and later served in  the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.  He was a lifelong resident of Poweshiek County where he farmed for many years.  

William enjoyed drawing, dancing, and working with his horses. But he especially cherished his family and spending time with them. He was a member of the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign War, and the Presbyterian Church.
