Welma Frances Dietrich, age 95 of Marengo, died Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at her home following a brief illness. Funeral Service: 10:00 A.M. Saturday, January 11, 2014, Trinity United Church of Christ, rural Marengo with Rev. Grant Speece officiating. Burial will be in the Ladora Cemetery. Visitation: 4 to 7 P.M. Friday, January 10, 2014 at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. Memorials may be contributed to Trinity UCC Memorial Fund.
Frances is survived by her husband of 71 years, Donald; two sons, Keith A. Dietrich (Gloria) of Mission, TX, and Gene E. Dietrich (Jill) of Marengo; five grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, 6 great -grandchildren, 10 step-great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Also surviving is a sister Dorothy Clevenger Johnson of Urbandale.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a half-sister, Beatrice Clevenger McDonald.
Welma Frances Clevenger was born September 21, 1918 in Ladora, Iowa, the daughter of Wilmer and Adella Randolph Clevenger. She attended the Ladora schools and went on to graduate from Iowa State Teachers College with a teaching degree. She taught school in Lincoln #6 Country School. Frances married Donald E. Dietrich on April 18, 1942 in Bethany, MO. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, along with being an excellent homemaker, cook, gardener and seamstress. In her free time she liked to embroidery and cross stitch. Frances was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, rural Marengo.
