Dorothy A. Smith Schluter, age 76 of rural Marengo, Iowa, died Wednesday, January 8, 2013 at her home. Services will be held 10:00 A.M. Friday, January 11, 2013 at Grace Lutheran Church in Blairstown, with Rev. David Rempfer officiating. Burial will be in Koszta Cemetery rural Marengo. The family will receive friends from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Thursday January 10, 2013 at Kloster Funeral Home Marengo. A memorial fund has been established.
Dorothy is survived by her sons. Don Schluter, David Schluter, and Dan Schluter, all of Marengo; daughters, Darlene Lenoch of Marengo and Dorene Wilcox (Ken) of Marshalltown; along with three grandchildren Chelsea Lenoch (Tom) of North Liberty, Brian Lenoch of Marengo, and Bradley Wilcox of Ladora; a step-granddaughter Michelle Hawkins (Jeff) of Ladora; two great-grandchildren. Charlotte Dillion of North Liberty and Brody Wilcox of Ladora.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother Bruce Smith, and a grandson Brandon Collins.
Dorothy Ann Smith Schluter was born February 10, 1936, in Chelsea, Iowa, the daughter of John Wayne Smith and Cleo Baker Smith. She married Donald Schluter on August 25, 1951 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Dorothy was a wife, mother and homemaker. She later worked in the cafeteria at Amana Refrigeration. In her leisure time she enjoyed reading and gardening. Dorothy was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Blairstown.
